UNAHCO SPONSORS THE 17TH NATIONAL HOG CONVENTION & TRADE EXHIBITION
Hog farmers from all over the country converged last April 24-26 at the Cebu International Convention Center (CICC) in Mandaue, Cebu for the 17th National Hog Convention and Trade Exhibition. This year’s event which was mounted by the National Federation of Hog Farmers, Inc. (NFHFI) and hosted by the Cebu Association of Meat and Poultry Products (CAMPP) MPC, showcased raw materials, vet and feed products, farm equipment, swine genetics / breeds and other farm products from 120 participating companies.
The annual event is part of NFHFI’s mission to promote and protect the interest of hog farmers and enhance the opportunities for growth, efficiency, equity and sustainability of the country’s 120 Billion Hog Industry.
The annual event provides hog farmers the opportunity to see and know more about the latest products in the market and to update their knowledge on the latest trends and techniques in swine management which they can adopt to improve their farm operations and boost production. Hog farmers also get the chance to hobnob with fellow hog raisers from the different parts of the country and share or exchange experiences and expertise.
The mounting of the event was very timely especially now that there is renewed interest on both the government and private sector to ensure food sufficiency. With this year’s theme --- “Enhance Pork Production for the Export Market”, hog farmers were updated on the various methods and resources which they can use not only to boost their businesses in the country but also to help them in their attempt to penetrate the export market.
In line with the learning exchange objective of NFHFI, UNAHCO conducted a seminar on “Managing Gut Health the Natural Way” last April 25 for swine raisers with our very own Senior Extension Veterinarian, Dr. Ariel Macasaet as resource speaker.
On April 26, it was the turn of backyard raisers and LGUs to listen to the good news about UNAHCO’s new product offerings. UNAHCO conducted three (3) sets of product launchings where Dr. Macasaet spoke on the product benefits of Digestiade, Major D and Early Wean. Partipants went home happy with the additional knowledge they learned and also with the token they received from UNAHCO which included T-shirts, flyers, samples, give-aways, Three (3) lucky particpants went home with brand new Nokia cellphone units.
Overall, the event was a huge success in the sense that it accorded UNAHCO the opportunity to showcase its products and meet existing and potential clients specially the big commercial farms, whom we are raring to develop and serve.
